The Spin Tube
Dave Appleby's decision to spin right in the pocket of this wave will take a lot more skill to pull off than doing it on an open wave-face. To get his board all the way around, he will have to spin under the lip then ride out of the tube.
Coming off the bottom, spin fast and throw your weight into it as you turn back towards the bowling section. Keep your board on the same plane as the water so as not to catch a rail. Keep legs raised. Any drag will cause a loss of valuable speed. As you turn past 180 degrees, keep your eyes fixed on the throwing lip and stay well clear of the lip explosion. if you timed your spin correctly, you should be barrelled and, as you complete the full 360-degree turn, you now have to ride out of the tube. This trick looks killer when performed correctly and can be done on waves of any size. So get to it.
